Emily Buchanan

Emily Margesson Buchanan (born 7 October 1958) is a British journalist who has worked for the BBC, in both Radio and Television.
==Early life==
Born in Hammersmith, West London, Buchanan is the daughter of George Buchanan (1904–89), a novelist and poet from Northern Ireland, and the Hon. Janet Margesson, whose father was David Margesson, 1st Viscount Margesson,〔("Person Page - 9864" ), peerage.com〕 a Conservative cabinet minister in the 1930s. Her mother (1918–68),〔("Hon. Janet Hampden Buchanan (née Margesson)" ), National Portrait Gallery Collection〕 a manic depressive, committed suicide when Buchanan was nine.〔Sarah Johnson ("The uselessness of Chinese au pairs" ), ''Catholic Herald'', 12 August 2005〕 She was educated at the St. Paul's Girls' School, an independent school in Hammersmith. and read History, French and Spanish at Sussex University.
